Kit for determination of soluble transferrin receptor (sTfR) on routine biochemical analyzers. The kit includes a reagent, a calibrator and a control.
sTfR is used as a diagnostic marker for iron deficiency in the body.
According to the WHO/CDC Technical Consultation on Assessment of Iron Status at Population Level (Geneva, April 2004), measurement of serum ferritin (Ft) and sTfR provides the best estimate of iron levels in populations. sTfR allows assessment of erythropoiesis without the need for cytological examination of the bone marrow, if iron deficiency is ruled out. It is therefore a useful marker in the management of response to erythropoietin (EPO) treatment and has also been proposed for use in anti-doping control.
Applications for commonly used biochemical analyzers available (Advia®, Alinity C, AU®, Atellica™, cobas® C, Optilite®, Mindray and others).
