Kit for the determination of immunoglobulin D (IgD) on routine biochemical analyzers. The kit includes a reagent, a calibrator and a control.
The main use of serum IgD measurement is in the diagnosis and monitoring of IgD monoclonal gammopathy.
IgD myeloma accounts for less than 2% of the total, but is generally very aggressive (with reduced survival), often associated with amyloidosis, with a high frequency of renal damage, severe anemia, and extramedullary involvement.
Measurement of the IgD level is useful for follow-up as it is usually not possible to quantify the monoclonal component by densitometry. It is also useful in its diagnosis, as an alternative step before immunofixation (IFX) and can prevent IgD myeloma from being misdiagnosed as Bence Jones myeloma.
Applications for commonly used biochemical analyzers available (Advia®, Alinity C, AU®, Atellica™, cobas® C, Optilite®, Mindray and others).
